Sweet! That's the Sonic Blue color correct? I love the last shot. I want that very thing myself. I got the SD just not the other. I'm shopping around for a 78-79 Bronco to build for a light mudrunner. Does that one have the stock 9" and 44? I had a 79 F-150 and those axles held up ok to 38's but I hear a lot of horror stories so sometimes I wonder if I should stick with 35-36 inchers.
Yes the 250 is in the Sonic Blue and it is a real eye catcher in itself. As for the Bronco it has been modified quite a bit. The 9" rear end has been replaced with a GM 14 bolt full floater and the D44 has had GM 8 lug outters inverted with the heavy duty hubs and necessary hardware. Both front and rear are running 4:56 gears to help with those 44s.
The 400 was ripped out and a 460 has been installed with some performance upgrades as well. The Bronco has basically been rebuilt from the ground up with tooooo many upgrades to list here. If you would like to check it out you can see alot of the work done on my superford site album. Thanks for the comments and keep on truckin'. Here is the link to my Superford page:
I've had my 78 for 15 years and can't seem to get rid of it. I'm quite familiar with every nut and bolt on it. Been happy with the 400 that was rebuilt in 91 for some extra poop but a 460 would be nifty!
Nice! Mine's the same color but with ext cab and I really like it. Seems like it doesn't show dirt as much as the dark blue paint and it looks wild when it's not quite dark out-almost seems to change color depending on the light!
Are you pretty happy with it's towing capability so far?
So far the 250 has served us well. We love the sonic blue color and it can have a tendency to almost change color in certain light. As far as towing goes it does just what we expect it to do with the V-10. Our only complaint at this point is it will pass everything on the highway except the gas stations. A good example is while we towed the Bronco to PA for the 4X4 nationals from NC we burnt $110 in fuel in the 250. But on the way back home (down hill) it only burnt about $75 in fuel. But you have to consider with the trailer and Bronco plus all our gear we had just about 11K pounds the rig was moving.
