Ok, so how many of you have had injector falures? and of those people how many have had just 1 replaced with the updated injector? And how many of you have demanded Ford replace all 8 injectors with the updated injector? (and had them replaced)
please post milage and build date of your truck
I am just stocking up on information as my truck is at the dealer with 1090 miles and #7 injector falure. Dealer says they will only replace the bad injector, I said they can keep the truck untill the replace all 8. Contacted ford customer service and they are looking into it, I am suposta hear back from them within 48 hrs....
Dave
As far as I know, Ford will only replace injectors one at a time on a need-be basis. They don't think all the C94 are destined for failure and it is not known yet if the C95 has cured the problem for all time.
It is my understanding (at this time) that there have been no failures for scuffing on the C95 injectors.
Thanks Joe,
I am still asking ford to replace all 8. They know they are falture prone, and if there is a posibility that the C95's are better well for 45k I think they should replace them all. All i need is injector falture 400 miles from home with the trailer to really make my day.
I will keep everyone updated on my progress
#3 Failed @ 2400 miles - replaced #3 Only (asked dealer & ford to replace all 8. dealer's hands were tied by ford, and ford refused to accomodate my request.)
#7 Failed @ 5200 miles - replaced #7 & #5 injectors. (dealer said that ford's policy was to replace all injectors in the bank that failed. asked to have all 8 replaced again, but same results.)
Waiting for one of the remaining C94's to fail on the other side so I can get 4 more replaced. If it happens late enough in the year, I will probably push for an '04 engine to replace the "lemon" I have now.
I love my truck, but am frustrated with the way ford is handling these engine problems.
So far, though, I have been lucky enough to catch the injector failure's early enough to avoid any significant fuel in crankcase issues which seem to be leading to turbo failures, et al. And I have not had any other problems I consider significant with the engine or the truck.
Build date on my engine was 28 Jan 03, I think. S/N 6018281

How did you manage to catch all those failure early enough? Watching the oil level very closely? Change in idle? How? What is your secret?
Keep in mind that an injector failure does not always mean a fuel leak. If a electronic component of the injector dies, injector may very well be able to function properly mechanically but can not due to electronic issues.
Think about this: If the fuel control injection module tells the injector to fire at the wrong time and test shows injector is not operating correctly, replacing the injector and leaving the control module alone is not fixing anything.
Some are starting to report failures with the C95's, but it does not appear to be a scuffing issue. Over-torquing of the injector, crushing the copper washer, looks to be the culprit.
Over-torquing is a universal issue, not limited to C95's, or even injectors.
Interesting to read all the problems with bad injectors. We purchased our new truck 6-19-03 with only 909 mi.on it showing signs of injector problem.Took truck in they will only replace faulty one.Now with 2409 mi.on the truck, same problem again.Contacted Ford Mtr.Co.they are to get back to us in 48hrs.
Ford definitly has a big problem here. Not much consilation when we are given a car as loaner to replace truck while in shop.Presently own 10 diesel motors on various trucks and equipment,so am familiar with maitenance of diesel. This is the first one to ever give a problem.Leaving a bad taste in my mouth for an expensive vehicle like this to spend so much time out of service because Ford won't fix the problem. They need to either replace all injectors or replace the truck.Smelling a lot like a lemon.
Don't know that I have a secret, just lucky enough to notice something was not right.
All three of the injectors that failed in my truck exhibited the same symptoms: rougher than normal idle and loss of power at 45-50mph, 1250-1500 rpm going up an incline or loaded (bucked like a broncho).
Tech told me the injectors were not firing at all (dead cylinder), probably an internal failure. I don't think that the problem has been leaking injectors. I have been checking the oil regularly and have not noticed any changes in oil level.
Keeping my fingers crossed that I don't have any of the other problems that have been described on this web site.
Well looks like I am getting my truck back today, with one new injector . Called ford customer service every day this week and they keep saying someone is goning to call me.... well guess what, no call. I am verry disapointed at it taking 5 days to replace 1 injector. Does anyone know how long it takes to replace a injector?

Truck in shop since 7-23-03 ,they haven't started working on it yet.If I had researched this series of trucks I would have seen the red flag.Being a Ford person,I didn't check it out, only checked competitors.Ford is misrepresenting this truck by not disclosing problem before purchase.Getting tired of phone calls to dealer,Ford Mtr.Co.and consumer hotlines. Not far from filing lemon law claim.
I am not a tech, but the tech who has done all three injectors on my truck mentioned that it takes about 1/2 to 1 day to complete the remove/replace once he has the new part in hand.
All three of my injectors failed on a Thursday or Friday (great timing) and I got my truck back on the following Tuesday or Wednesday.
Well got the truck back... the mech says it did not fail mechanicly, just the electronic part of the injector failed. I asked him if they changed the oil, he said no, then I asked him if he ever saw engine oil magicaly expand 2 or so quarts, he looks at me with this puzled look, and i explane how when i left for my last trip the oil was halfway between the full and add marks and now is over the full mark? He said I must have checked it with the truck un level. (truck was on level ground both times i checked) Then he tells me that there is no way fuel can get into the oil... I just laughed and said, ok i will call you when it blows up.
