For the past two nights we've had temps down to 18 & 9 degrees. Not normal for us. Both mornings my driver's door would latch shut after i opened it for the first time that day. After the truck gets warm the door will finally shut and latch but I road a couple miles with my hand holding the door before that happened. I'm sure something is freezing in the door latch mechanism. Would wd40 or something help this.

I replaced my driver side door latch about two years ago. Wife drives it and it gets a lot of city use (door open/close). Just couldn't save it with lube. It was sticking worse in cold weather.
Easy job. I bought the latch from Ford for guaranteed fit, about $30 I think. Took about 40 minutes.

I think I'll order one and replace it. I wondered how hard it was and you answered that.
It's easy for some and hard for others. A lot has to do with how large your arm is to be able to fit inside the door and also how limber your joints are to be able to twist into where you need to go.
Ford Parts shows the latch assembly "with clip" & "without clip". Do you guys know what that means. How do I know if I need a "clip". The with clip kits are a lot higher. They also include some cable.

My OEM replacement latch had no clips or cable.
The Ford Parts dwg shows the parts in the "clips/cable" version. I didn't need them. Look for the gray square block next to the (assembly) parts in the snapshot below.

I changed the front driver & passenger side this past weekend. Now the driver's side doesn't leak and the passenger side doesn't rattle anymore. Thanks.

Great news, thanks for closing the thread with a victory report!

Isn't it funny how new parts will do that sort of thing.
