I am working with a 8RT engine that I have installed in my 8N Ford tractor. The fan hub has no oil, at least that will drain out with the plug removed. However, the bearing is smooth and tight. I can find no information in any manual regarding amount or viscosity. can anyone help?

The original owners manual called for 30wt oil, but Ford revised that to a gear oil, 90wt I think (I'm working during a power outage and can't look it up tonight) anyhow, it only takes 2 oz. the proper way is to remove the screw, add the 2 oz, turn the screw to the bottom, and went it stops pouring out, it is at the 2 oz level, then replace the screw.. The screw hole is actually a shaft that extends into the hub and acts as the measuring agent.
Sounds like a heck of a good answer, just what I was looking for! Don't know why I could not find it in my manuals. I am now located in NY but moving to TN, near Greeneville, maybe our paths will cross. Thank you!

I've traveled your area a lot, lived in WNY for 54 years before moving here 10 years ago. When you move to Greenville, it put roughly about the same distance away then.
Here is a link to give you a bit more info and history on the fan hub Ford Oil Filled Fan Assy
