I had to pull the fan shroud and fan on a '51 F1 today.

When the fan came off (six screws), oil came out of the assembly.

How do I replace the oil when I reassemble? I found an assembly drawing on the web but it didn't indicate how oil would be inserted into it.

Or...did I misunderstand how this thing works?

 

Turn the hub so the fill-screw is facing upwards, remove the screw, pour in one oz of 30w oil. Turn the hub so the screw is facing downwards and let the excess oil drain out. Replace the screw. ...Terry
