Broken Flexplate

I am looking at buying an 88 F250 with an old boss plow and a broken flexplate. The plow is really nice and worth the price of the truck and plow combined. I am curious if I can get the truck started, can I drive it home with a broken flexplate. Speed limit is 40mph the entire way and once ts parked, I plan on tearing the truck apart and scrapping it. Any help is appreciated.

The flex plate how broken? Can it catch the started in places?

If you can get it started you can drive it, but if the flex plate breaks worse while driving it, it could make the whole situation a lot worse. Worst case I could see it making a complete mess out of the front end of the trans and putting some horrible loads on the engine mains. Is it likely to cause a problem? Maybe not. But it is taking some risk.
