I just purchased a 2 barrel 302 intake Casting number D7OE AC. I want to put it on my 77 302 flairside in place of the 4 barrel Edelbrock currently on the truck. I have two questions.
I think I know the answer to the first. From the casting numbers I can assume this manifold came off a Fairlane or Torino . It will fit on my 302, right?
The second question I have is regarding a "pan" on the underside of the intake. It appears to be held in by two pins. I have researched to see if this is replaceable but have not found anything. Mine has a small slit I noticed after power washing it. Can it be welded? Is there a replacement available?
.. or bring it to a machine shop and have it media blasted and stitched up. Prolly less than buying a new one. If you were local I'd do it for nothing.
The manifold will fit.
As for the "pan", that's a heat shield to keep oil from splashing on the hot exhaust crossover section of the manifold and cooking, then turning into carbon. The two "pins" are rivets. Not a 100% sure but that slit may be factory. The shield isn't liquid tight, that may be a drain hole for oil that has splashed up underneath the manifold to drain back into the lifter valley. Personally I wouldn't worry about it.
