I wanted to check in because I know it has been a while. First off I wanted to say thank you so much for all the prayers and well wishes. Elsie, my wife Melissa, and myself drove home together for the first time on Monday 16th, Elsie is home! I truly believe this is because of all the positive thoughts she received. Elsie has a long road ahead of her, but she will prosper, I know it. When we checked out we were actually discharged by the same nurse that checked her in straight from the helicopter. It was eye opening for my wife to hear how worried the hospital staff actually were the first couple days, Melissa was in a different hospital for the first two days. The nurse actually told us that they were concerned Elsie wasn't going to make it for the first couple days, they never let on to us, but she felt okay saying it because she made such huge steps before her release. So, we are home and plan on staying here for the foreseeable future. Elsie will most likely need surgery in a few months for a more permanent feeding tube and we have many years of physical therapy ahead of us. For the people who haven't been following her Facebook page, Elsie suffered a fairly significant brain injury during her traumatic birth, everything is an unknown at this point. Elsie may be self sufficient or she may need a life long care program, whatever the case she will be loved fully. One plus is the Excursion is big enough to carry what ever equipment she may need in the future, score me! Seriously though, a huge thank you to everyone on here who has sent positive thoughts and prayers, if you are following Elsie's page on Facebook please share it with your friends. I'm not a big taker in life, I don't normally ask for things from people, but my daughter is going to need a lot of help in the future and the more people who know her story the better.
After reading through this entire thread again I wanted to say my thanks to all of you have not been plentiful enough. I am sitting here with tears in my eyes and humility in my heart saying "Thank You oh so very much for the love you have shown my daughter and family during this ordeal."
