I totally understand!! I admire and respect the sentiment for sure. But if the rust goes too deep, it will certainly eat away at the sentiment. It's awesome if you wanna tackle the hours & hours of fabrication & welding & finish work, not to mention the money. I've seen people work some amazing miracles with these things. But it would still be your grandfather's truck if you saved yourself some time & money by finding a rust free shell of a cab and put all original parts from your truck in it.
It's cool that you're here and I hope you start a build thread on the truck. We'd love to see some pics, too!
