Hi Everyone I found out the block in my 69 is cracked while rebuilding it so I am wondering what a fair price for a block or a rebuildable motor would be. It had a 360 but as long as I can use the new intake cam lifters timing gears valve covers and all the goodies I bought I don't care what size it is. any ideas would be greatly appreciated thank dave
352, 360 and 390s are plentiful. $200 or even less at some yards, should get you what you need. Of course, your always gambling with a complete but non-running motor.
If you are willing to pay a little more, watch ebay for a machined and checked block.
is there a way to figure out if It will be good before I buy it I found a whole truck for 500 but I am leary mine ran ok and didn't leak any water before I took it apart but it did leak oil and had a tick so I want to be carful I have to drive it about 2000 miles next month towing a car for half of it next month
I've got 3 390 motors in my shop that totaled up didn't cost $200. One was the end result of buying a 73 F250 and stripping it and scrapping the body and frame, salvaging the usable parts and keeping the motor and trans. shelled out $90 for it. Another was from buying and parting out a 64 T-bird for $400. Sold $50 in parts out of it before selling the rest for $350. Still have the motor. The last came from a 68 Galaxie , cost $200 and so far I've sold $150 in parts from it, not finished with it yet but still got the motor and trans.
