IPR question
The one Colm typed up for us is here:
https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/a...1&d=1364848489
I didn't get back to this yesterday, forgot about an appointment after work to get our taxes done. Went out to dinner afterwards. Marigrita's are awesome yesterday (not so much this morning
).Here's what I have for updates to the spreadsheet.
1. IPR operating range change to 0-85%
2. ICP at idle change(add) to 580/625.
3. Add an entry for IPR %. (Or add the % numbers in parentheses in the existing entry) These would be the same numbers as ICP desired. But would help clarify if it had it's own entries.
One last issue if anyone has input, I have a XGauge for IPR psi and I think I've seen it over 4045psi a time or two. Is that really the correct value for for the top end of the operating range?

I see where I was mixing up ICP and IPR (thanks for the PM's guys). So rather than edit the above post yet again...IPR % can go to 85, so that should be changed in the operating range block. While it does show 14.84 in the KOEO block That is what you "should" see, 0 is the lowest you "could" see.
ICP is different on some trucks 580 is good on some, the stated 625 is correct for others. If you were to address this on the sheet, it would require changes to the low idle column in ICP, ICP DES, and IPR entries. (580psi is .82v)
Max ICP psi can sometimes read higher than 4045. But I couldn't find a definite, correct number. This probably won't come up in discussion much.
Sorry for the confusion.
I have yet to meet a lab rat that likes to get his labcoat real dirty.
Baselines are useually at sea level 60 deg. ambient on a newis clean engine.
Not a 100K dirty old engine. They like to be comfortable.
This came up for me after I referred someone to the sheet and they called back saying "My IPR is reading 78%, it says on the sheet it can only go as high as 50%". After explaining they didn't do anything wrong and sheet has an error it kinda makes them wonder what else could be off and can complicate the discussion a bit.
I also sometimes post a link to it for people who ask about values or post they just got a OBDII device. It's very nicely done, easy to read, and thanks to Colm for typing it up but it would be nice to not have to point out the error at the same time I post the link to it.
Personally, I'm not terribly worried about the two different ICP/IPR numbers or the high range of the ICP. Those just came into the discussion as a " while you're in there" kinda deal.
Sorry I've been busy with all the snow removal from roofs up here in New England I haven't had time to make any corrections to the sheet until now.
So I have the master that I typed up before it gets converted to .pdf. Let me know what values need changed and I can make it happen.
I wonder then if I'll have to make a 2nd post of the sheet, or if I can edit the original to replace it with the updated one? Anyone know?
Edit:- I see Rusty has some values already earmarked.
1. ICP Desired. In the low idle column I wrote 625/580 with 'early model / late model' in () in the description.
2. ICP volts I changed KOEO to 0.16 - 0.28. Do you want a change in the low idle column too?
3. IPR % I changed the range to 0 - 85%. What should the high idle number be? Is it 85%? Is something less then 85% the value that should be in that cell?
4. Anything else?

#2 ICPv at KOEO was good at 0.2. (That's pretty much "0"psi and would be correct)
#3 just the operating range, high idle is ok.
#4 don't forget to update the updated date at the top of the spreadsheet
.I think the website chooses the file name for pdf's when you upload so you can't really choose to overwrite the previous one. Your origonal post has been up too long to edit so you can't change it either. I'd just drop a new post in the thread where you posted it before with the new attachment(the link below is where I found it). I'm not sure but you may be still able to edit the title of the thread, if so you could put (updated) or something in the title, if not we can live with it.
Thanks again
