I think street racing in a metro area where you may endanger anyone that's not involved is totally irresponsible, but where I grew up we had a place outside of town that we all went and we could see for a mile in either direction. I wasn't above a little stop light action in the city either. bit traffic usually kept that down. As men we were created to enjoy a little danger, it's our nature and while I do not believe in endangering others, I believe our society is going too far trying to make an antiseptic enviornment for all. Being in a car on a public road is the most dangerous thing that most people ever do. If you get in a car you must accept some level of risk and in a perfect world common sense would prevail. It seldom does.
I guess my point is that ALL street racing isn't bad. If you have an isolated place where you have good visability and the participants are only endangering themselves then it's no big thing.
You guys really need to setup your galleries. I need some visuals with all this talk!lol
You have a real solid performer there pat67shorty. Must be great having a shortbox. I'd love to chop mine, but way to much work involved.
willowbilly3, I agree. As long as the crowd of people stick to just the staging area, and there isn't anyone/thing at the end of the street. The problem is trying to get everyone to follow these "common sense" rules, when the adrenalines pumping and some substance abused kids aren't all there upstairs. Thats why we prefer smaller controlled groups.
pat67shorty do you have any other 67 shorty truck pics cause that one is absolutely beautiful.Forgive me if there is some other way to see them for i'm new here and havent figured all this out yet.I have a 69 short box with a 460 big blue. She needs some work but with some tlc it will be a real beauty.
I have a few more pics laying around. I'll get them scanned and up on my cardomain page eventually. Most are of that front corner though, since that is where the good paint is left. The drivers side and box are in faded red primer. It had a hard life before I got it.
Very stock looking interior, and in great shape, nice. I have a set of custom mustang buckets, and oak console/mini-foldup seat, that my dad built for me.

I don't know about you guys, but with all this talk about racing, it came to me that some of these trucks get going pretty fast. And my manual drums take a little effort to stop sometimes. I need to do the 73+ disc conversion, but I am saving up for a nifty toploader I found.

Same problem here. But my brakes are really touchy, and tend to lock the tires up easily. Must be cause of the weight. Which brings me to another question. What do you guys weigh in at? With about 1/4 tank, and including me (200lbs), my trucks just over 3900lbs.
Personally, I don't care much for manual tranny's for a performance truck. Shifter throw is to slow. I would like a OD on my auto though. She tops out quickly with 4.10's.

Heh, I found that toploader (the real deal, not that SROD piece I was lookin at) for $100 (he's going through a divorce, needs some cash), so after that is done, and I get a dash out of a F-600, I will try to get around to that disc brake swap.
