I am looking for a tougher bumper for the 78 f150. I want to put a winch on it. I also live where wildlife frequently stops in the road and commit suicide.
I checked Ranch hand site. They don't make bumpers for our dentsides. Does any company make those type of bumpers?

JBG (Jeff's Bronco Graveyard) is the only popular retailer that I know of that carries Dentside winch bumpers. Otherwise, find one you like and contract a fab shop to adapt it to your rig.
Alternatively, order a winch plate and fairlead and start fabricating one to suit your taste and style. Order the winch later or at the same time... the minimum rating is twice the weight of your truck. Therefore 10,000 lbs but 12,000 lbs is better.
Thanks for the reply I will look at Bronco Graveyard. I will talk to a welder for a quote on making 1 fit.
I will go the route that fits my budget the best.
The point of a receiver hitch in the front bumper is to be able to use the winch mounted plate as an option on the front or rear if needed.
QD (quick disconnect leading wire type) elec connectors for front or rear power, and you can use it on a trailer too....
I have a long set with QD's on one that fit the winch leads and the other ends are jumper cable clamps, I can use it with any truck....or any buddies truck.
I made it where you have to double pin the receiver in place. Sorry last pic is not so good. And that is NOT a Harbor Freight winch mount plate, that things is a beast!
Remember what ever sticks above the bumper that is not attached correctly or built out of thin wall tube is going to destroy you nice outer grill shell/inserts and hood and maybe a radiator if you use the wrong material and or its a crap weld job.
I rate stuff at a 180 to 375lb bambi proof-ness. Use hardened bolts, lock nuts, grade 8 to 10. Double the mount plates, bolt it on each side of the frame and use spacers between the outer frame plates. Make sense?
I didn't consider the double mounted plates thanks. I have seen too many cars and trucks around here turned to junk because of deer and the occasional elk out for a stroll...
The truck has the same dented bumper and grill on from the previous owner. I don't want to replace the grill shroud and inserts until the bumper is traded out for a stronger one.
A mine truck, tall, backed into it recently the hitch went between my headlight and radiator. That is another reason I am thinking of some type of gaurd there.
