Ill be back under her this weekend, and i will get lots of pics. I have the oilk pan gasket coming in and new weather stripping and door bumbers coming in. I also want to work on the gauges as none of the original gauges work, however im not convined they are even wired correctly with a voltage reducer. not even the speedo works the cable is there just not sure it is plugged in. Does anyone know where i can get the colored cloth wire sleeves at?

Probably not a mistake. I believe these trucks were only sold in the New England states.

Just a idea our local Advanced Auto has a rack of chrome letters. For kicks
I measured my FORD letters and brought a ruler there these letters are
so close nobody would know - they are stick on. So I bought a set,
although they are chromed plastic stick on's for cheap no one will know
unless they bring a micrometer. As far as the transmission, keep it, you
got a chipped or missing tooth which is a freshman shop class repair, its
a tooth implant in which the missing is milled out and a blank is pressed
in / pinned and the tooth profile is milled or cut on a shaper. we do it
all the time. However these parts are out there, most likely Joblot is a
good start or even Dennis Carpenter has a good amount of NOS stuff.
T5's are good with some work, but don't cha think a $25 gear will get
you going in a couple hours ? then after all said in done maybe a T5
in the future because I have seen many attempted projects go down the
drain with people jumping around taking too much stuff apart then giving
up. attack one thing at a time while still using the truck. sam

I have driven it around some, I do love the way it is, other than the tranny, no e brake, the exhaust fumes and gas fumes in the cab along with all the rubber cab mounts and bed mounts completely missing or dry rotted causing so much noise in the cab. I just figured that since those mounts and bushing need to be replaced while I have it off might as well clean up the frame fix the brake and replace the exhaust with headers and dual it out bring the pipes all the way back in stead of right under the cab, and fix the tranny. once that is done I will drive it more before deciding whether or not to paint. I kind of like that old color on her.
