pin hole in the brake line along the frame rail just below the drivers door. what are you guys using to replace the line? pre bent? what company ? or are you guys making up your own? dam its a long run hahah. thanks guys
Had a similar issue on the Chevelle not too long ago. I just went by AutoZone, they've got a ton of straight stock brake hard line in a variety of diameters and lengths, pre-flared with fittings. I just rented their tube bender and went to work duplicating the original line, haven't had any issues with it in the months since.
The line was pretty inexpensive IIRC, I used a 5' piece and spent less than $20 after the tool was returned.
i figured to go this route making my own. cool deal on the Chevelle i have a 70 myself.
Slightly jealous, been debating swapping a 70 front clip onto mine but I've been leaning towards not doing it recently. I love the front end of the 70, but the 71-72 tails are perfect.
Guess I just need to get a 70 as well, hah. Finally get the wagon I've wanted for forever too, just plop the 498 I'm building into the wagon instead of the 71... Hmmmm.
Those wheels look fantastic! What brand if I may? Decided I'm going to run 17's up front and stick to 15's in the rear so I can run some taller tires, no tubbing for me though. Going to stick to 295's since they're the biggest I can fit now. The current 357 SBC blows the 275's off like crazy, but it's 'slightly' built and the TH400 has a 3k stall to keep the cam happy.
I need to get a cage in mine, more for peace of mind and some rigidity than anything else. You're far more race car than I plan on going, but I do want some harnesses and proper buckets with pass-throughs for safety's sake. Low backs and lap belts don't exactly ooze 'we'll keep you alive if you crash'
If you go the route of making up your own bake lines try to get the high nickel content raw brake lines, they won't rust like the stockers do over time.
I have always thought the '70 Chevelle front clip was the best looking of that generation and the '71-72 tails were a perfect match for the '70 nose. Almost like the tail designers were lagging behind the nose designers by a year or so.
But I'm a first gen F body guy so what do I know.
