Beginning to be Concerned
Bought a 2014 SD 4x4 in December of 2013 and this is the second time the big girl has been to the shop with A/C problems. First time it was the evaporator about three or four months ago. During the last few weeks of the summer I began to smell something strange (like band-aids) when the A/C was on and it lingered until the next re-entry. ALso, began to hear a slight hissing noise when the compressor was kicking in and out. They replaced the evaporator, smell remained as they said it was the refrigerant I was smelling. About two or three weeks ago the smell got slightly "larger", and last weekend she would not cool. This is the fourth time shes been to the shop with other problems such as the My Touch system..............
Anyone heard of any issue with the A/C units in these things?
Started to get concerned she was born on a Monday or Friday....build sheet says a Thursday

When I get home I will post a TSB about the odor. It is a bit older of a TSB but perhaps that will get them insight to control the smell as well.
Next repair I suggest going to another dealer if possible.
Get with ford cust service to arrange a different location to look at it.
Hopefully this will be it though.

I want to do what I can to help, JimRay. How many miles are on your truck currently? I'll start researching options.

Hey Guys/Gals, I wanted to give an update here and clarify this post. My original intent was to simply ask if anyone else was having issues with the A/C evaporator as this will be my second unit. I have no problem with my dealer or the truck at this moment. Also, our on forum Ford rep has gotten involved and I have had a conversation with the regional rep as well.
In short, I hope I did not imply that I was unhappy.....
