so i talked to the guy i got it from,he said the inline fuel pump he put in, in where the tank switch over was in the frame is he thought was 17-20 psi,i am wondering if that is enough pressure to run the 7.3.

It's enough to start it and idle, but probably won't run it.

well it will not even start so maybe thats not all my trouble i am at wits end but sure do appreciate every bodies help.

Have you checked the fuel pressure with the inline pump disconnected, to see if the "native" lift pump is doing anything?

IIRC, the pcm won't even try to fire an injector if ICP < 500 psi.
Definitely need to check the pressure on the stock pump alone as madpouge said.

but no i havent disconnected the in line fuel pump to see.if i would put a 2gallen can of fuel on the line up by the motor on the inline line to the fuel pump would that work the same

That is the only stock fuel pump. And if it's working, you should definitely NOT be using an auxiliary pump upstream of it, or upstream of the bowl. See farmert's note in post #5 about how the stock pump works. The key is "low pressure to the filter". The filter bowl is built to withstand only the low pressure created by the first stage of the fuel pump. If you run a pump with higher pressure upstream, you risk damaging the fuel bowl.

Yes, running from a jerry-can into the stock system would be a good test.

I would go ahead and remove the electric inline pump and try it. That inline pump needs to come out regardless.
