backwards disc?
What happens if you install the clutch disc backwards? Put a new clutch in and it makes a scratching sound when pushing or releasing the pedal. At full depression or release it sounds fine. Truck moves fine. It was suggested a bad throw out bearing, but I went back and replaced that again.

The disc hub is usually thicker on the backside, so if you flipped it around, it will probably rub against the end of the crank or pilot bushing/bearing. If the disparity is large, it may warp cause the disc to warp from the pressure plate pushing on it. It also means there is also less engagement to the transmission input shaft, so you could strip both if you put them under a big load.

Not too hard. Took 3 hrs to pull Trans to change the the throw out bearing when 8 thought the new one was bad. The disc was flat against the flywheel when I put the pressure plate on and everything slid back in easily. Just don't really have the time to mess with it again before I need it again. I didn't deglaze the flywheel. Hoping that's the problem.
