Front Brakes

Evening fellas, guess I have become that guy who only comes around when when things go bad. Sorry I'll try to do better.

I had a flat the other day and noticed that my front brakes were dragging. Today I had time to pull the wheels off and check things out. Pads are at about half life. I put them on without much fuss a couple years ago.

Today it did take some effort to get she slide pins out. I washed them in solvent and rubbed them with 800 grit sand paper. Flushed the holes with brake cleaner then greased them up with Ford caliper pin grease.

Still seems like they drag. I notice that the lower pin has a rubber sleeve that fits over the end. I could not find that part but I bought a hardware kit and put new seals and springs. She does roll downhill in neutral just feels like a lot of resistance on jackstands.

Any thoughts?

You can see if the wheels are getting hot due to a sticking caliper or collapsing hose. A simple test is to feel the rims around the lug nuts (carefully in case it's really hot).

You could also track log temps with an IR gun. See if both sides are about the same and what the temps are after different drive times.

Here's an example of some IR meter measurements of the rotor with a caliper that had sticking pistons:
