Rack and pinion question...
Hey gang,
I know this is not the Dodge forums, but you folks have been such great helps and I figure the systems can't be that much different so thought I would ask the helpful folks here.
I replaced my girlfriend's pressure hose for her power steering pump today as I thought that was the leaking bit she has been experiencing lately. But noticed after a day of driving today that we are still getting some leaking. Had her get in and turn the wheel while I crawled under to look. It looks like it is coming off the top of the rack and pinion below where the lines come in.
My question is are there seals on this that can be replaced or is this a situation where I will have to replace the entire rack and pinion? Pic below shows the general area of the leak (though hers doesn't quite look like this one).
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Jeff

Some cars have thin teflon washers or seals that get installed on the line's fitting before installing the line. Not sure if Dodge does that or not.
If it's leaking in the shaft seals, it's almost always easier to just replace the whole rack. They're pretty cheap these days, and usually come with new inner tie rod ends.
