Another Clark ID Thread

I have been looking for a 5spd overdrive Clark to use in my '59 for quite some time now. I've done a lot of research and read about every Clark thread I can find, here and everywhere else online.

I found a guy near me that says he might have one. It is for sure a Clark, I can tell by the case but he said the ID tag is missing.

He said 5th gear is an overdrive(from counting the rotation) however the shift pattern doesn't match up from what I've read.

Everything I've found(including talking to a couple members who've driven 280-vo) says the shift pattern for OD Clarks are
2-5-R
3-4-1

The seller says his shift pattern is
2-4-R
3-5-1
This seems to be consistent with a direct Clark

The only explanations I can think of is either he mistakenly counted the rotations and his is actually a direct drive 5th. Or, he was mistaken and 5th/OD is actually up and 4th is below it.

The transmission came from a '59 Ford bus and has the shifter all the way forward, the shift housing evens hangs over the bell housing by about an inch.

Does anyone have any input? Could the weird shifter somehow change the position of 4th and 5th or did Clark make an OD with the sellers shift pattern? I am not an expert on these and would just like to find out as much as I can before I make a several hour trip to check it out.

Most Clarks I have dealt with , the number was stenciled with paint.
Overdrive pattern is 4th direct (down to the seat ) and 5th (up to
the dash) I guess the only way is to take a trip and turn the input
shaft by hand and watch the tail shaft. My only red flag, is that
it came from a school bus?? Back then most states the school bus
speed limit was 30MPH. & Picking up 50 or so kids = Overdrive??
I don't think so.

By way Clark OD's International used a lot of them...

Thanks for the info. Looking more and more like this isn't what I'm after. I'll probably hold off unless he can find the id number.
I'd like to find a 280-VO instead of one of the earlier ones so I have syncros in the top 4 gears.
