I have a99 f250 as with a 5.4 4:10 gears. I can't keep a motor in it for more than a year. Blow heads and plus. I can get the whole truck, dodge or Ford. Ihave full access to salvaged trucks. Budget is limited. I was thinking of putting the dodge drive line under my Ford body. Engine trans and tc. What would be the easiest/ cheapest way. I know it will be one or the other but...ideas?
stick with ford parts. this way you will be able to get what you need. if you put dodge parts in it, you will end up with an abortion that will need 5000 questions answered to get any parts for it.

Call me closed-minded if you will, but to this day I fail to understand where the appeal is, to swapping out a Cummins engine into a Ford pickup. It almost seems like some people just like to complicate their lives needlessly for reasons beyond my ability to fathom.
If the OP chooses to go through the headache of a 7.3L transnplant, someone has already gone to the trouble of doing exactly what he proposes as one of his options right here:
i think it is because everyone drank so much kool aid that they are now convinced the gold plated cummings turd of an engine is the best thing ever invented since sliced bread.

I agree completely. That's why you need to get a Cummins out of a Ford truck.
