new clutch question

73 f250, 360, and t18. Everything went together nicely with the exception of the pilot bushing. It was really tight around the input shaft. Clutch seems to work fine, except when engaging and disengaging, it's making a scratching sound. My guess is its the disc wearing into the flywheel or the shaft wearing in the bushing. Seems to work fin . It's quiet when fully engaged and disengaged. Could I have installed the clutch disc backwasrds?

When you are pressing on the clutch, you are getting the scratching sound, right? Foot off the clutch, in gear or in neutral, no noise?

Throw out bearing is a suspect.

I hate to say this but take it apart and look for signs of trouble.

It will be small trouble right now. Big trouble later.

You are not alone, I had a trans in and out 9 times in a year. Slow learner I was.....

Since it's still fresh in my head, for just the TO bearing should be easy.

Easier this time, but the scratching sound is still there. I'm thinking it's the disc itself. What happens when the disc is installed backwards?
