2011 spark plug replacement

This is Just an FYI. I replaced the plugs in my 2011 F-150 3.5 Ecoboostwith 50,000 miles. I had a miss under heavy acceleration. Turns out the plugs had a gap over .090" and the side electrode was burned. Replaced them and all is well. Hope this might help someone .

Thanks!

Do the 11s have coil on plugs like the late 90s model?

Did you put the Motorcraft SP 534 plugs in or stay with stock? I just learned that the stock plugs wear faster and are known to have a lot of gap variance. I'll be monitoring this.

Yes ,they are the The Motorcraft SP 534. I purchsed them from Stage 3 Motorsports. They came gapped at .030", I checked each one to make sure. The drivers side was a bit tricky, but nothing to bad. I have a Hypertech tuner and a 3" Flowmaster cat-back. I know others make more power.but I am counting on reliability. I am impressed with the performance and towing. I tow a heavy boat (7000 lbs.) and have no problems. I have been getting 18-19 mpg in mixed driving. I will see if the plugs helped that any.

Actually it was pretty easy. It took about an hour or so. I needed a step stool to reach them. The drivers side it a little tougher, but not bad I thought. The wire to the fuel regulator has the be pulled to remove the back plug and the pcv is in the way for the front plug. Other than those two issues, a straight forward job. I did apply anti-seize on the threads for insurance.

Ok that doesnt seem as bad. Hell i had to un bolt the Fuel rail on the driver side. Freaking nightmare. Electrode grease is a MUST with COPs slightest bit of moisture and they will short out.just fyi
