I have a 1997 e150 Chateau Wagon. After a recent rain I noticed a severe water intrusion. Seemed to either be coming from where the roof lip is, or the window seal. I poured water from a pitcher along the edge of the window, and I did detect some water coming through. So, any insight on whether it is either of the following would be appreciated;
1. The seal between the window frame & the body.
2. The seal between the window and the window frame.
What type of weather stripping or other sealant would be needed to resolve this?
You need to first determine if water is coming in around the glass or elsewhere. The best way to do this is with a garden hose, no nozzle attached. With water running start the stream low on the glass then slowly moving it upward and across the top, observing if any leaks. Don't try testing any other part of the van just now---figure out if the glass needs sealing.
I'd need to know if this is fixed glass or the movable type, aka "pop out" and whether factory or after market.
IF its the glass leaking resealing is possible but can be a bit challenging if you're not accustomed to working with automotive tempered glass. Because I'm in the auto/truck glass biz this is easy enough for me but even so its very, very easy to break.
