I'm with the old hands on this one.
If F*rd could have left something out, or simplified it more, then they would have. True, there are some improvements to be made, but skipping components isn't one of them. You don't want horn current going into the cab and back out. Extra big wires are heavy, carry some risk and work poorly.
Some wires might be replaced with one size larger. (And, there is the recommended headlight-relay modification, 3G upgrade, etc.)
If you are tempted to start removing things, learn more.
Wires are partly sized to protect the 'load' on the circuit they create. Big wire = more current = more heat = shorter life = dead devices on Saturday night. Don't risk your romantic opportunities. Valentine's doth approach.
If anyone wants to get real technical on this, let's take it offline, and do a well-reviewed job of it.
It should not take you any longer to switch those wires around way less then it takes to take a whiz. Unless you been drinking a lot of coffee or beer.
