Hello,
Can anybody help me with identifying a motor I've got? I bought a '49 ****** Panel van and this engine was in it. The front of the block on the drivers side is stamped "460". Only it's backwards,(like in a mirror). Where else can I look? Thanks. I'm new around here and am really enjoying this forum.

OK, here's what I found: the heads are: C8VE-A
the block over the starter is: C9VE-B
the tag under the coil is: 460 69 3
9A (ford logo) K866-T
The valve cover sticker has a number also: C8AE-9C485-D
these valve covers also have 7 bolts. Thanks.

Thanks guys,
Using Dennis's links I had the year and veh. it came out in, but I didn't know for sure if it was a 460 or 429. I'll try to ID the tranny when I get home tonight. I read (Dennis's links again!) that the C6 has an intregal bell housing, mine does, so I'm thinkin' that's what it is.
