1968 429 Timing Cover

I have a 1968 429 from a Thunderbird in a 1972 F-250 4X4 Highboy. I want to change to a 1970 waterpump. Can I just change the waterpump or do I have to change the timing cover as well?

You can swap it over with no problems. You may even find the 70 used the same casting as the 68 water pump.

Mark's right. The only differences in timing covers were van and truck types with no dipstick provision and the fuel pump port being eliminated on EFI engines. All will fit any 429/460.
