Ok so I am getting ideas to build my truck I have about 3500-4000 to put into the engine including any machine work that I need to get done. I want to be able to get between 225 and 250 hp out of it. Just looking at turbo kits I think they are out of the question due to cost. So my question is what should I do to it to make that kind of power in my price range?
dang, you should be able to get 300 or so with that kind of dough. There are a lot of build threads on here, but if you want HP, you gotta go turbo. Look for a used turbo, and check out R&D IDI Performance With a solid bottom end, a cam, pump, injectors and a turbo, you should easily achieve you goals.
Alot of nitrous... not sure what the engine would have to say about that though.
If youre talking engine horsepower, aka brake horse power, you might get 225 with a bunch of work and $$, would be easy to eclipse that with even a stock type turbo for 400-600 bucks used.
S360 turbo kit, 90cc pump, IC kit, and stage 1 cam from R&D will give you 240/250whp and close to 600lb/ft. 110 pump is a little more, will also need studs, and i would run the 363 and that should give you 290-300 and 650-700 to the ground. Wouldnt have to run an IC for 90cc, but it will run hotter and you wont get quite as much powas
