Air Dam question

Ok I am loking and the search isnt bring up specifics for what I want, but my question is the following Is the air dam in front required for our trucks and if I remove it (its already cracked) will that hurt any thing like performance?

I plan to remove both halves as its become cracked down the centere and well to me its pointless to keep...

If you're referring to the air dam on the bottom of the bumper, I don't think they are required.

We have two of these trucks and neither of them has ever had one. So I don't see any problems with removing yours.

The air dam just gives more MPG and lets the tuck go a little faster.
In other words it makes for less air resistance.

My F350 was missing its air dam (which is a bit smaller than the 92-97 version), when I bought it, but I found a repo for ~$30 and put it on.
Noticed zero difference in performance or milage, but I don't drive long distances with it, and really only put it on to clean up the front a bit. I like how it looks.

I took mine off when I first bought the truck. It looked stupid to me so it went in the trash. No problems whatsoever.

To really be effective an air dam has to extend down to within inches of the road, that is pretty much pointless on a street vehicle never mind a pickup truck. I don't see the factory air dam making much if any difference particularly on a 4x4.

My previous truck drove better at 70-75 mph with it than without it. I believe it helps, not to mention it looks better with it in place.

Typically one F150s and Broncos had them. Never seen them on f250s or f350s.

Agreed with Conanski on them being POINTLESS

My front bumper from an F150 has the dam. I have ran it for a bit and thought about taking it off. I do like how it hides the front spring shackles. A couple of days ago I trimmed it at the line that runs it's full length. Perfect, not too long and adds a little detail.
