I'm going to ask for some opinions, my buddy has a 96 f150 with a 351 Windsor. It was fuel injected, with an automatic tranny. He pulled the fuel injected motor and put in a 351 with a 4 barrel holley. They used the wiring harness off the injected motor and just cut the injector wires off that way they could use the same computer. The truck runs great buy doesn't shift properly. When you take off it shifts at about 10 mph then again around 20mph. It won't down shift if you stand on it. The motor just sucks more gas and doesn't get up and go until you get back up to higher rpms. The tranny shifted fine with the other motor. What's the problem and a way to fix it?
The computer isn't getting all the info it needs from the engine. I don't know how to make this mess work. I think the best way to do it is to get an aftermarket control system. PCS makes one.

Unfriggenbelievable!!
The computer in this vehicle controls both the engine and the trans and it needs input from both of those things to do the job correctly. So your options are...
A. Put the EFI motor back in and reconnect all the wiring.
B. Add all the EFI sensors to the carb setup and reconnect all the wiring.
C. Remove the trans and install a non computer controlled trans.
Well he did put a lot of the sensors back on but there are a few that he did not. We were also doing some research and a throttle position sensor(TPS) is offered by holley. It says that this is supposed to make a carbuerated motor work and shift properly with an electronically controlled tranny.
