late model 351W wiring

I just got a 351W that came out of a '96 e-250 or e-350 van. Its a complete assembly including computer. I was wondering if anyone here is good with wiring that could help me out in swapping this motor into an 84 tbird that was originaly a cfi motor. I am guessing that there are gonna be inputs to the computer that I cant use because I dont have the sensors so the computer might not work or go into limp mode or something. Or any other advice anyone has on swapping this into a vehicle not designed for that computer. And exactly what kinda computer is it obd-2 or something like that?

What is your goal?

If it's to have a modern fuel injection system in an older car, then yes, you will have a lot of wiring to deal with. There are some aftermarket people, and I think even Ford motorsports, that make a harness for an older vehicle, but it is still going to be a lot of work since your fuel tank and the rest of the fuel system is going to have to be modified also.

If it's just to get the car back on the road, strip the new engine down and put all the cfi stuff on it. I have never done it before, but I would imagine you could swap intake manifolds and a few other things, and be on your way. Or you could strip the new engine down, and put a carb on it. I have done this before, and it works too, if you don't have inspections.

Well, the reason I got the motor I did was because it included the computer, wiring, and everything it needs to run. I would hate to take it all off. PLus I plan on keeping the fuel injection anyways, although eventually upgraded it to better equipment. I am hoping the fuel system will only need a new pump, and as long as my tank is the same as a mustang tank then the pump should be a bolt in affair, although I dont know anything about in-tank pumps. As far as wiring goes... I am hoping that all the wiring I need is for the motor, because I'll have all of that. I am just not sure if the computer hooks up to other stuff too? Like dashboard stuff, tranny, etc because none of that in my '84 is computer controlled.

I know that aftermarket exhaust can mess up you O2 sensors without cats, and I have seen a 'MIL Eliminator' that is supposed to make obd-II units ignore the MIL (malfunction indicator lamp?) errors. I just dont know if I am gonna have more of these things to deal with than just the O2 sensors.

yeah, you didn't want that computer for this. If it had an electronic trans, and I'm sure it did. then you must swap in the ENTIRE drivline and elecrtical system.

This is a head ache, sell it to someone else quick.
