I'm going to do the dana 60 swap soon and now I'm looking for some input. I have a 1990 f350 parts truck with everything I need and it's going onto a 1988 f250.
What parts for the steering do I need to use? Would I have to swap steering columns?
I was also wondering what kind of stock lift this f350 would have? Definatly higher then the 250... Is it the same as a 4" lift kit? I'm trying to figure out what to do to get a good 4" of lift and fit 35s.
You need to do a SEARCH. This topic has been cover a LOT
Yeah I searched and found some good info... Kinda trying to find out if an f350 is the same ride hight as a 4" lift on an f250 though.
Also my steering on the f250 is super loose and sloppy. Will all the components from the dana 60 swap fix this or is there more too it?
You'll be about 2" higher front and back if you also use the rear lift block from an F350. You can fit 35" tires on a stock F350, trim the front bumper a little and use rims that are 10" wide with a 4.5" backspacing.
I should be clear that if your suspension is really clapped out, you might see more than 2" of lift, and if your suspension is in good shape but the F350's is clapped out, you might see less than 2" of lift.
No you don't need to change the column, or the steering box, just the pitman arm, the F350 one is longer.
Stock 4WD F350 is 2" taller then stock 4WD F250. Your F250 will have a 2" block in the back, swap it out for the 4" block and U-bolts from the F350.
Depends on why your F250 steering is sloppy, probably though.
What would I have to do to make it the same as a 4" lift kit? I also would prefer to have the best ride quality possible. Are the f350 leafsprings usually a better ride then springs from a lift kit?
