full throttle surge is usually a sign of a failing injector pump.
Wow already? I think these are about 3 years old.. Thinking about it now, I do have a little fuel knock when it's cold I guess it's time to order up some stage 1 injectors

it could and should run for quite a while like that, just keep an eye on it.
my last pump started surging around 90k miles, i ran it another 65k before it finally gave up. the last 15k it had no governor in it, i could spin the engine past 4 grand if i was not careful.
