Auto locking hub issues and questions
I have a 2010 F-250 that I bought new in 2010. Shortly after I bought the truck I got stuck in minor mud. I had to lock the hubs manually, the auto locking hubs did not work. The dealer replaced a solenoid that creates a vacuum that (I think). Now my auto locking hubs are again not working. Anyone know what it costs to replace the device? My other question is, can I drive with my hubs locked for extended period of time without damaging anything? I live in New England so having 4-wheel drive is important.

As long as you don't go over 40MPH and are NOT on dry pavement! Snow OK so long as it isn't down to the pavement. Does your heater in the cab blow out of the front vents? Or do you only have defrosters?

If I understand the OP, he's asking if the HUBS can be left locked for extended periods, not if 4wd can be left engaged. The hubs can be left manually locked for as long as you like. It will increase your fuel usage slightly, and increase the wear on your front wheel drive components very slightly.
