Anyone know the pan capacity of a 2011 6r140 transmission?
Connected to a 6.2l gas motor if that makes a difference.
Lots of conflicting info on the web, ranging from 6 to 12 quarts pan and 17 to 18.2 quarts overall.
Thanks in advance.
For what it's worth, when I just drain my pan on my 5r110, I get just about 9 qts, or half of its 17 qt capacity.
I would expect something similar on your's, if logic plays a part here...but who says these assumptions are logical?
For the Job #2 and up 5R110W with the consumable internal filter(capacity should be very similar for the Job 1 5Rs with the lifetime filter, the external filter will add a little more) and the 6R140 I believe both pans hold about 9ish qts. For the job 2, 08 I had and the 11 I have, I buy 2 cases (12qts in each) of LV. R&R the filter. Fill it. Run it for 10-20-30 miles. Then pull the plug; drop that oil then refill. This operation usually consumes ~19-20qts. I do this every 25-30K on any auto transmission. Unless I can drain it 99% like I can on an old schooler trans. If your trans has over 100K on the original fluid and its dirty you may want to do this X2 so 4 casses and 2 filters with in X miles or find a heated transmission flusher.
Fresh fluid & filter AT OR BEFORE the recommended intervals keeps your fancy hydraulic pump alive and well for a long time.
