Is your Bed Lined Up?
2015 F350 with just over 1K miles.
Just noticed that my bed is not even close to being lined up with the rear doors/cab the same amount on both sides. You can easily see this in the pics.
Don't know if it was like that from day 1 and I never noticed it, or if it happened at some point from then to now. I do hear a little bang in the left rear when going over bumps sometimes.

Yea both of my 6.7s came that way. Seems like a huge quality control issue. You'd think on this pricey of a rig they'd make the lines straight. Kinda sticks out like a turd in the punch bowl. I thought about spacing mine with washers on the bed bolts but i was afraid of twisting everything too much, especially with the newer trucks having lighter sheet metal.
I played with mine when I did my gooseneck hitch. I feel like I could have gotten them a lot closer if I would have had some help.

Mine is the same way. Ford has a great Diesel engine and trans but they can't line up a simple bed. I also have what I call bed spread, that is the gap between the side walls of the bed and the tailgate are 1/4 at the bottom and 5/8 at the top. Dealer says it's my fault because I have too much weight in the bed. I have always hated the wedge shape of the bed anyway, so I am working on a design for a utility body from aluminum.
My 12 is 100% straight too. My 09 was off to one side and when I loosened the bolts to try and shift it there was no play. I pushed so hard trying to shift it, I dented the fender where I was pushing. I don't think it's a model year thing. I think it happens in every year from truck to truck.
Has anyone successfully lined theirs up and if so, what did you do?
I lined my '10 dually bed when putting in the B&W Turnover Ball hitch in...just loosened all the bolts and used a 2x4 to pry up on the bed against the frame while my dad watched from the side. Pretty easy.
Thanks. Sucks to have to loosen all the bed bolts and move the thing an inch (or so) because of Fords careless assembly attitudes, but now that I have seen it, I will be annoyed every time I drive it until I fix it.

After reading this thread yesterday, I looked at mine more closely in the parking lot when leaving work. Mine is straight vertically and horizontally. The body line is straight between the cab and bed, and the cab sides and bedsides are flush with each other on both sides. For what it's worth though, I have read multiple times of this exact same complaint on the Ram forums too, so it's not just Ford that can't get the jigs lined up correctly during installation.
