Radiator for 1953 F-600 flathead V8

I acquired a beautifully worn 1953 Ford Anniversary Edition F600 4 by 2, 2 1/2 ton gatebed truck. We got her turned over - but then the radiator just leaked out like crazy - like no amount of radiator fix will do it. I want to treat 'Old Red' real good - and I need to find a radiator for it. Its got a flathead V-8.

I've been searching to no avail so far. Any help?

 

First check this site - Motorhaven, seen several on ebay, I also believe I've seen the listed in the back of sme of the auto rags

 

Try your local radiator shops, one was able to recore my F3. Also have the heater checked out while you're at it, and of course the hoses, clamps, etc.

 

Well I ALMOST got a used 53 radiator - thanks Kevin - but it was rotten to the core - ouch.

I'd be willing to have a custom one made if I could find the place to do it - but I am still looking for the elusive 53 Ford F-600 flathead V-8 Anniversary Edition (the first 50 years!) - radiator!

Man, that's a long title for any part on that truck. I'd shorten it a bit!


I'd think any good radiator shop could recore that for you. Find a nice, dirty shop that's been there a while, and has older guys working in it! As long as your frame/top tank are in good shape, any good shop can recore it.

 

I have sent in inquiries to several on-line shops - but barring any success witht hem - I'll have to haul the old rotten one in and see what they can do with it-

 

I'd advise calling local places first and telling them you have an old truck that needs help -- they'll tell ya right away if they're willing to look at it or not.

It appears from looking at the parts book that in some cases the same radaitor was used from the F1 on up. You may want to check around and see if you can find some other models to compare, ya might find one that will work.
Some of the "Lighter" models were listed as "Extra Cooling" with the same part number.
Have I significally confused things?
