Just picked the truck up from the mechanic and they have put a new water pump in plus re flushed the cooling system and installed a highflow thermostat !!! All at cost price thank god, I must say they have been good to me in that respect ....
I was also reading about partially blocked cat converters causing overheating! Not educated on this at all but figured it might be worth taking the truck in to have the exhaust checked before the next big trip in 2 weeks (more for piece of mind, would rather that than breaking down 8hours from home )

I would be surprised if it has a cat. But a freed up exhaust certainly won't hurt anything! Be that as it may, my bet is that the water pump was the problem.
I have no idea what the laws are in Australia, so they may very well have cats. Monitor the EBP/MAP together to get a clue. They should be very close together with normal driving.
