I imagine it's something to do with some vets claiming false injuries to gain benefits after service. Or just so they can get narcotic pain meds, when they don't really need them.

Explain that to my buddy Rob across the street. He's been in a wheelchair for the last 30 years because of a crushed spine from a chopter crash that killed the other 5 in the crash, IN COMBAT. He's been on Morphine the whole time and they just took him off cold turkey and they plan on teaching him to ignore the pain. Good luck with that...

Stupid VA...

Don, I'm not saying there are legitimate vets out there who actually NEED pain meds, like your buddy Rob.

I'll have to ask my mom about this program. Some of her clinical hours for her masters in nursing are at the VA. She might be able to shed some light on this when I talk to her on Sunday.

Imagine this is part of overall cutback in VA spending. And I don't think the classes will reduce the pain.

There has to be a special place in hell for whomever advocates or allows such as this to happen.

That's why. They don't have to pay the dead (and can make them vote Dem.)

The better reason to band together. If no one else will help - taking care of our own is more important than ever.

I'd bootleg "poppy juice" if I thought it would help someone in that situation.

~But I wouldn't get away with it for long....

There's the rub. Whatever we do has to be within the law.

RECKONINGS

Must it always cause pain
To make things the way they should be?
Is it really so expensive to help
Who kept you free?

HOW can you sit down
Watch movies on your 50 inch screen
That tell the stories of people
That had to do things you have never seen

The horrors that fascinate you
For others were real
And the money and aid for them
The Government steals...

The price for you sitting there watching 1080PI
Was paid for by those who's screams reached the sky
And to this day their misery
Has not been relieved...

You think it's a game, a movie, or a joke
While eating a pizza and sucking a coke
You never visit the veterans and see how they are
Dealing with what's left of their lives without hope

You elected the robber barons, the officials on high
Who's entertainment budgets also seem to reach to the sky...
Shop twenty four hours a day for your wants and sometimes needs
Does it ever occur to you to even ever ask "WHY?"

How can you do that and not understand
That your ability to do that came from other citizens hands...
And their arms, and their legs, all the parts that are missing.
Or that don't work anymore so they can no longer stand...

You say: "Thanks for serving" and avert your eyes
We say: "You are welcome" because we tried
To do what you couldn't, or wouldn't, whatever...
So that the principle of "FREEDOM" just might last forever

~Wolfie
