Okay, I have a 1990 Bronco. When I bought it, it had a 5.8L in it. Not a very strong motor and it had not been well maintained, so I took it out and put in a 5.0L out of an 1989 F150. The problem I have now is it wont go in-time. AT ALL. So I've been told to change my ECM.... So, what I need help with is.... Do I search for an ECM to match the Bronco year, Engine size and Trans type or, do I search for an ECM that will match the Engine year, Engine size and Trans type? Any and all help is GREATLY APPRECIATED!
There is no real difference in the PCM programming between 1989 or 1990. The same could be said for most any of them up to 1993.
Your timing issue is probably caused by not removing the SPOUT plug to set the base timing.
You will run into driveability issues with the 5.8L programmed PCM trying to run your 5.0L engine. You need to look for a PCM in the 1987 to 1993 range with the exact same transmission and a 5.0L engine. It would also help to use the same emission type (Federal vs. California).
And though the 302 is a fine engine, you said the 351 was not a very strong motor so dont be expecting any great improvement in power. This could actually be considered (and would be by many folks) a downgrade
Okay... I may need to change or rephrase what I'm asking. I get the timing set but the driving is crapy. Spitting and jerking once I get to about 2500 rpm. Does that sound more like a computer problem?

No that sounds like you hooked something up wrong, a 5.0 should run just fine on the existing computer.
Questions:
What vehicle did the 5.0 come from?
Did you use any wiring that came with the donor motor?
What firing order do you have the plugs routed for?
1: The Engine came out of an 89 F150.
2: Yes, the wires on the Engine were intact and the MAIN plugs were the same so I left the wiring harness that came with the 5.0L on it.
3: It is set to the 5.0L. Not the 5.8L.
Okay, I have been through all the wires and the firing order. Don't have anyway to check for codes other than taking it somewhere. Anyone know what I need to do or how to make sure I buy the correct ECM for the Engine and Trans I have in the truck now?
