I picked this up at the salvage yard off another bullnose a while back. It's an old Aero Shield bug deflector. Looks to be made specifically for the 80-86 F series.
I tried it on my truck but it just isn't me. Still not to bad of a find though I'd say. I haven't seen any like it.
The pitman arm seal is leaking really bad. I'm going to try and freshen the shaft up a bit with emery paper and a new seal Maybe it will hold out until I can get my hands on a Redhead steering box.
No unfortunately not. The shaft was pitted pretty decently in a couple spots and when I installed it back on the truck it still leaked. Not nearly as bad but enough to make me take a gamble on one in a JY. I found a dry steering box at a salvage yard and threw it in. That's what's in it now and other than a little play in the worm gear it's problem free. Still planning to replace it with a redhead sometime in the coming months.
You have done a lot of work to bring that truck back to life. Sorry to say most of that was way overdue upkeep. Don't you hate when life gets in the way of working on the truck Dave ----

I did nothing but purchase parts and work on it for about the first 4 months of owning it. As for most of it being overdue, yes, very much so.
Knowing now that it's actually a pretty decent truck the condition in which I purchased it in is even more of a shame than I had once suspected.
I know what you mean Dave. It's always something it seems like.
I saw your post asking about changing the motor & trany mounts.
Not knowing the truck but most cars & trucks from back then you undid the bolts say 1 motor mount, block of wood on a floor jack the jack the motor up and slide the mount out. Do the same on the other side.
or
You undo both mounts, wood & jack up motor and slide mounts out.
Just keep an eye on the fan to radiator/shroud. You may need to undo the fan shroud to give room for the motor to be jacked up.
Also on some cars/trucks watch the air filter to hood clearance too.
Trany is about the same, unbolt mount jack up end of trany or in your case transfer case and slide out mount.
Can you maybe drop the cross member down with the mount on it, swap it for new one and install cross member?
Just throwing out how I would go about doing the job.
Good luck

I forgot that I did do a couple small things to this truck since I lasted posted any updates.
I took a used 14" air cleaner assembly that was on the truck when I purchased it. Spray painted it flat black threw a new Mr Gasket 14x5" filter in it along with a longer cleaner assembly stud. A little more appropriate than the small Edelbrock air cleaner assembly I had on it temporarily.
I also had to purchase a 2.5" aluminum spacer from Speedway to get the air cleaner base to clear parts of the carb.
I ended up having to clean up two steering boxes because as I said earlier the original one had a shaft that was pitted a little too much to seal correctly. Anyhow I snapped a couple pics of this as well along the way.
Nice work man! I love your truck it's got all the same drivetrain as my 87 and it looks like my old 86 bullnose. Your truck sounds really good, did you already put the headers and mufflers on? What are you running for exhaust?
