I know folks have put these in. Any suggestions-types, brands or LED etc
Thanks
I've always used DDM tuning for HID. Been running them for about 4 years. If I were to do it today I would go with LED. I'm installing a set of Lifetime LED headlights and fogs in a friends F150 later this week.

My Ex had these on it when I bought it. There was no dim or bright function just on or off. They were way to bright and were blinding other drivers. I'm not a fan at all. Just my $.02.
The headlight buckets in these trucks are not designed to focus the light from HID bulbs. All you get is crappy, scattered light output, especially if you go for the ricer colors over 43-4500k. I'd be interested to see how the LED's work in a stock bucket. With HID, if you don't have or don't retro at least into a projector lamp housing, you are wasting your time and money. Not to mention the aforementioned blinding of oncoming drivers. And the no highbeam is because the PO went cheap and didn't do a BI-Xenon type kit.

you have to let us know how this goes. I've been looking at them for about a month for my x and wanted to see how they look before I drop the $$$

I have the bi xeon's so I have low and Hi beams although I rarely use High. I have no issues with light patters as some have stated either. I did have to adjust the housing down a little. I run the 5k bulbs that offer a nice white light. Have had them in for about 4 years now.

I have the F150 coming in on Wednesday to get a set of Lifetime LED headlights and will keep you posted. I've sold a few sets and everyone has been happy with them. I didn't install them so I haven't seen them for myself yet.
As stated before, halogen lamps are not designed for HID bulbs. I can spot a kit in a second. They always have some measure on glare. Take the time to do it right and do a full projector retro. Its no easy but its fun and rewarding!! Best info is at hidplanet.com.
VVME is the company I use and have since 2007 with one kit being a '07 with no bulbs/ballests replaced. I run them in all my trucks, aimed correctly and have never been flashed. I use a hi/low kit so i have full low beams and high beams.
I'm not a fan of projectors and the extreme sharp cutoff, really sucks with all our hills.

Do you have a recommendation for someone who already has the HID kit but needs a projector housing?
My first post on FT, but, not my first car forum post....
A little background on my ride:
2000 7.3 PSD Excursion
X & modded B's - "level"
2005 Full OEM front Conversion
2006 OEM HD Black Headlights that use "H13" bulbs.
I was excited about the LED headlight retrofits and purchased a set and was disappointed.
The optics/reflector housing of the OEM Ford headlight does not support the light output of retrofit light bulbs.
These "bulbs" emit light in a pattern that is NOT "aimable."
The light that comes out of the housing is a huge, BIG, blob that just goes everywhere.
While road testing with the LED light I immediately noticed that there is no "cut off" and when stopped behind another car at a stop light I illuminate the entire passengers compartment much like a police car when performing an enforcement stop.
LED lights are an interesting product..but.. they have a large fan that is attached to the rear end of the bulb that is loud.. but.. not louder that an idling 7.3.
Quality: Not ready for prime time. I purchased set set from a "premium seller" and had issues right out of the box.
Regardless of the initial issues and "lifetime" warranty..
These lights WILL fail over time and you will be inconvenienced with RMA's and removal of light, retrofitting back to halogen, and waiting for replacement part(s)
Remember.. "lifetime" is as good as the company is still in business.
Don't Waste your money and time!
If you want to waste some time.. go read up on the "JK" forums about these lights, polish /restore your oxidized headlight lenses, or check for voltage drop @ your head light bulbs...
