Original Horns

Has anyone used the original 6v horns on a 12v system without a bunch of additional work like voltage reducers or resistors, etc? I am going to mount the 2 originals under the hood, but if they are a bunch of extra work I will get horn out of the salvage yard for utility.

The single horn that is used on the '50 and earlier trucks will work fine on 12V. The double horn that uses a relay, may need a 12V relay.

It's been discussed here before that 6V horns will work fine on 12V, but will be REALLY loud. Just don't lay on the button for long periods of time. You wouldn't want to overtax the system and burn them up.
