Need some help on the cut out for the dome light & switch on the headliner . Don't like to ask for help but as some of you know this is a one shot deal . Have a template made out of tag board . Positioning must be perfect . Does any one currently have that style headliner out that could supply some dimensions for the exact position ? Maybe a pic to help out ? Does the cup for the light go behind the light or just the light bezel ? Also seems the pan head attaching bolt will make a bump in the head liner . Will take a closer look this afternoon .Also seems the switch is farther in the plane of the light . The head liner is the last item on the interior .Thanks , Denny
Joe , that confirms where the progress is at now . Thanks . Think I will secure the bracket to the window rail w/ 2 rivets. That will eliminate the bump made by the attaching pan had screw . Also thinking of securing the switch to the bracket since a double jam nut will not work because the shaft of the switch is too short . JB weld. No way to hold the back of the switch while attempting to turn on the jam nut since inward pressure is needed .Made a template out of the excess window cut out material & will test fit tues. Also took many measurements to position the hole correctly side to side .Will post results this week . Thanks again .

I will be following this, as I still need to install a headliner.
Since 1999 when I redid my '54 and began looking for parts, I have not seen any acoustic perforated headliners for 53-56 trucks which would have been for the Deluxe Cabs (53, 54) or the Custom Cabs (55, 56). That is OK with me as my truck is a Standard Cab anyhow. But I think there would be money to made by someone if punching holes in cardboard isn't too expensive.
Riveted the bracket to the window rail & did the JB weld trick on the back side of the switch . Excess window material test template fit just right . Next some precise measurements side to side , precise cut outs & install .
