light switch access

Does anyone know of if there are any detailed instructions or pictures out there on taking apart the dash of an '81? I seem to be hung up right with the first piece under the wheel not coming off and this plastic appears to be, well, cheaper than hell and brittle with age.

If you are just trying to change the light switch you dont have to remove anything but the switch. There is a button on top of switch you press while pulling **** on switch out. Then you can access the retaing nut that holds switch in. Take it off, unplug connector and reverse to reinstall.

So I got the **** off ok but I still can't get at the nut. It's behind the plastic dash piece with only a small hole for the **** to come through. Unless I'm missing something it appears that bottom plastic piece needs to come off.

If you are trying to remove the gauge bezel, there are clips on the back side of the wiper ****, and fog lamp ****. Pry them forward with a screw driver, and the ***** will come off. Then remove the screws at the top of the bezel, and you can remove it. Be very careful with the bezel! Your truck is equipped with Fog lamps, which is a very rare option for 80-86 trucks.

Thanks, got it. Only a small casualty to the wiper ****. Nothing a little super glue can't fix.
