Misses When Cold - Help
the last couple of times i have started the truck it misses as i drive down the road - bucks a bit and not firing on all cylinders. about 5 minutes into the drive the truck is up to operating temp and runs perfect all day long. if you let it sit for a few hours and it fully cools down, it will miss again upon starting it up, and then after 5 or so minutes its running great again.
i thought maybe it was moisture in my rotor and cap that was causing the miss, then the moisture burns off and it runs fine. i was due for a rotor and cap, so i replaced them, but the cold miss is still there. spark plugs are only about a year old.
and fyi - it does it on both tanks, so not a dying fuel pump, and pump in front tank was replaced a year ago along with fuel filter that sits along the frame rail. plus the fact that it goes away when truck is warm makes me think its not a fuel issue.
any thoughts on what it could be? plug wires? coil? i'd rather not just throw parts at it.
the new coil solved the problem. i don't know why a coil would cause a miss when cold, and then work just fine when warm. i've seen the opposite happen when a coil gets heat soaked.
maybe this thread can help someone in the future who has this strange issue happen to them.
