Obvious signs besides the obvious wouldn't be obvious would they?

Why don't you tell us a little more about what you're dealing with, and please try to get spaces between the words.

2002 powerstroke

Well captain obvious thanks. But it runs for a little bit like15-20 seconds and shuts down, it does this until it gets to operating temperature then it runs fine.

Then it's not glow plugs. How does it run for that short time and how does it stall out? Any difference if you push the pedal down a little to try and keep it running?

It smokes quite a bit ,white smoke, pushing on the accelerator doesn't seem to help. Sometimes it lopes,(im not sure how to spell that ) the first start of the day it starts pretty normally, but after it shuts down i have to keep cranking on it to get it to fire back up.

I assume no Check Engine Light. So, no codes.

I have a series of questions that may help the guys figure out the problem.

1 How many miles are on the truck?

2 When was the last oil change? What type pf oil are you using?

3 What about the fuel filter? Have you changed it?

4 How much fuel is in the truck? Do you park it on a hill? (there is a problem with some trucks that start sucking air when the tank is still half full, that's why I ask)

5 Is it cold where you're at? Did you add any fuel anti-gel?

6 Have the injectors had any work done? O-rings? Aftermarket injectors?

Answering these questions may help in finding out the problem.

Does it happen to have any oil in it?

The check engine light comes on sometimes, but when i shut the truck off (when i finally do get it running ) the check engine light goes away and no codes. There are 140,000 miles on it, the oil change is about due not sure what oil is in it (i just bought the truck in july ) i will put rotella in it. There is about 1/2 tank of fuel in it,and it is parked on level ground. Yes it is cold here , i never added anything because once it started getting cold here is when it started acting up, so i pluged it in and parked it until i can get it fixed. Not sure about the injectors at all. I hope this helps.

The injectors are fired off of engine oil so if it's about due, start with an oil change. Some up North in the cold weather say they prefer synthetic oil in the winter so their engine doesn't lope. Others don't seem to have that issue.

Have a look at the IPR, to make sure the nut is on and snug.

I unplugged the icp sensor and there is oil on the plug. That means the icp is bad correct? Could this be my problem or maybe part of it ?
