Alternator?
The GPs on-time is controlled by the PCM, under certain conditions the GPs can remain on for up to 2 minutes. The dash Wait-to-start light does NOT reflect the GP state.
The GPs draw huge current for the first few seconds until they get hot, then their draw decreases (but it's still beyond the stock alternator's output).
The stock alternator can NOT supply enough current to keep the voltage above 11.x, thus having GOOD batteries is the key.
Very High output alternators CAN supply enough voltage and those with them report 14.x volts moments after a startup - even in cold temps.
