Road noise and light problems

Hi...first timer here..I have a 2003 EX limited. I've driven it cross country (2300+mio), twice...both times hauling a huge trailer with my things. I have noticed now that I have a lot of road noise...it is real bad at 53-63 MPh. There's no shimmy, ....also, have an on/off again problem of the running board lights and interior dome( front to back..not going off)..its run my battery down once...anyone know what it could be. I tried fuses to disconnect, but all with the lights doesn't effect them...thanks..

Jaybay, welcome to FTE.

Based on where you posted your question, you're new to Internet Forums.

When you have a specific question/problem relating to your rig, and it has absolutely nothing to do with the original authors problem, it's considered inappropriate to post your question in that other persons thread because it does nothing to help with their problem, and your question just muddies the waters.

It's always better for you to start your own thread and ask your questions relating to your rig so when people chime in, you know they are trying to help you with your problem.

If it weren't so, we wouldn't have individual threads addressing individual questions. Instead we'd have one thread where everyone just posted whatever problem they were having. That would be...messy.

To help you out, I cut your post from the thread where you placed it and made your own thread for you.

WELCOME to the world of XXXs. 99% chance the light issue is coming from the back hatch latch switches. There are a # of fixes but spraying the latches with a lubricant of your choice seems to work well. Just search back hatch & light issues you could be reading for days

Welcome to the forum. The road noise could come from a few different sources.

Maybe your door hinges are tired and are letting the door(s) hang a bit away from the body, letting in noise.

Maybe your weatherstripping around the doors is no longer expanding like it should, letting in the noise.

Maybe you changed tires and the new ones have a harder rubber compound, creating more noise to be heard.

Maybe you did not change tires and your tires are getting old, which can make the compound harder, creating more noise to be heard.

Maybe you did not change tires and your particular brand and model of tire gets louder as the tread wears down.

I recently bought a 2000 7.3, and it had a lot of road noise too. Having never owned a 7500lb truck, I just assumed loud was normal, especially since it was 14 years old. One day a few weeks ago, "loud" became "vibrating", which very quickly became "crunching". :O

This was the first (and hopefully last) time I've experienced a catastrophic bearing failure. Whoops. Truck is nice and quiet now.
